Comprehensive Lesson Guide: Solar System & Eight Planets Matching

Exploring Our Cosmic Neighborhood

Our solar system consists of our central starβ€”the Sunβ€”and eight official planets, divided into two distinct groups:
1. Terrestrial Inner Planets (Rocky & Solid):
- Mercury: Closest planet to the Sun, covered in craters, has extreme temperatures.
- Venus: Hottest planet due to a runaway greenhouse effect and thick carbon dioxide atmosphere.
- Earth: The only known planet with liquid water oceans and thriving life.
- Mars: The 'Red Planet', home to Olympus Mons (the largest volcano in the solar system).
2. Jovian Outer Planets (Gas & Ice Giants):
- Jupiter: The largest planet with a massive Great Red Spot storm.
- Saturn: Famous for its magnificent, wide ring system made of ice and rock fragments.
- Uranus: Tilted on its side, an icy planet with a pale cyan-blue color.
- Neptune: The farthest planet, characterized by supersonic winds and a deep blue hue.
